DESCRIPTION:Larry Courtney\, a Corvette enthusiast from Michigan\, is holding an event that entails making a flag with red\, white\nand blue Corvettes on Flag Day on Belle Isle to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States. He plans on\nmaking the biggest Corvette Flag ever\, consisting of over 400 cars\, the weekend of June 13-14\, 2026. Larry has\nenough cars signed up to make the flag\, but there will be other activities that weekend that anyone can attend\, If\nyou are interested in attending this event email Larry at MichiganCorvetteEvents@gmail.com as soon as possible..\nThere will be two separate ways to sign up for this event. One is for those in the flag and the other will be for those\njust attending the event. The Cassel’s will be entering their white Corvette. Cost of the event is $30 per car\, and\nthe proceeds will be donated to selected veterans charities.\nHotel information is Residence Inn by Marriott Detroit Pontiac/Auburn Hills at 3333 Centerpoint Parkway\, Pontiac\,\nMi 48341. You can call 248-858-8664 to make reservations under booking code “Corvette Flag Day.” Cost is\n$129/night for a studio. The rooms under this code have already all been booked as of this writing. However\,\nwhen you call you can ask for that code and see if you can still book a room at the same rate.\nLarry is setting up some tours/events to do on Saturday and the actual flag set up will be on Sunday on Belle Isle.\nIf interested in going contact Deb Cassel at 412-932-7326. SUMMARY:Mountain Playhouse Matinee
DESCRIPTION:The Mountain Playhouse present “Come From Away\,” a Broadway musical about 7\,000 stranded passengers and the small\ntown\, Gander\, Newfoundland\, that welcomed them as all planes were grounded on 9/11. It tells how the people in this this\nsmall town rallied together to make all the passengers feel welcome and even form some lifelong friendships. It is based on a\nremarkable true story of a harrowing time in our history.\nThe playhouse is still under renovations so this production will be at the Somerset High School Auditorium\, 645 S. Columbia\nAve.\, Somerset\, PA. Tickets are $25 per person for the 2:00 matinee.\nWe would drive out route 30 to get to the High School for the play and we will stop for an early dinner on the way home at the\nCoal Miner’s Restaurant around 4:30. DESCRIPTION:This year’s event will be held August 27th through the 29th. A few members go out to Carlisle on that Thursday and stop for\nlunch on the way. Some members belong to the Grand Sport Club\, and if anyone is interested in joining that club you can go to\ngrandsportregistry.com to do so. Note: this is the 30th Anniversary of the Grand Sport model. This club will have a reserved\nspot on the field and they have a picnic Thursday evening. DESCRIPTION:This trip is scheduled for October 2-4\, 2026. The plan is to leave Friday morning and the weekend events include a visit to the\ntrack for 3 laps (cost is $30 cash)\, a trip to the Amish Store\, Windmill Farm and Craft Market\, wineries\, and Northeast Classic\nCar Museum in Norwich. We were able to get a discount rate of $135 plus tax at the Budget Inn in that area.
