Despite the forecast, the Grabiak “Small Town” Spring Expo went off without a hitch!. Nearly 20 CCWP Members attended to support our sponsor Grabiak.
It was a picture perfect start and a total “rain free” event!… Thanks to all who believed the weather would hold and came out to enjoy the day with all your follow corvette owners throughout the tri-state area. We had people coming from West Virginia and other places as well..
It goes with saying this event would have never happen without all the hard work from our Events Coordinator, Sue Marnell and also Bob Marnell our Social Director! Also need to thank all the members that pitched in to help out as well (You know who you are and the Club appreciates your help).
By my unofficial count we had just shy of 60 cars!… Special thanks to Mike “Michelin Man” Diorio for all the great pictures!
Thanks to Tom Henry for being our sponsor and especially like to thank Sue Henry for coming out to help us present over 30 trophies to the winners in person and next to their cars in the lot!… First time we tried that and we think it will be the way we do it in the future… Much more “personal”… Apologize in advance if we missed any trophy winner.
Here’s a few random pics… A more complete recap of this event with more pictures will be in our next Newsletter!
Thanks to United Rays Corvette Club for coming out. Congrats you guys and way to go Don for winning Best-Of-Show!

Just a reminder that we are definitely having our All Corvette Spring Show tomorrow, May 12th.
Hope to see everyone and your awesome cars!
The Spring Corvette Show has been postponed until Saturday, May 12th due to pending inclement (rain) weather expected all day tomorrow.
Hope to see everyone next Saturday, same time and place…
We were all ready to have a great show with our most ever trophies planned at (41)..
The 2018 season beings in spite of the cold weather with our annual visit to Mike Miller’s Antique Collection in Centersville, PA.
This year we had (16) club members plus Deb’s brother Bernie and my grandson Dylan. We didn’t bring our cars of course, not because of the cold but more due the the rough roads getting back to where Mike’s buildings are that houses his collection. Marg, Gary and Bob Whitesides left before we took the picture..
Mike and his family including his daughter Michelle were great again hosting us and we especially enjoyed seeing Mike’s grandkids and seeing how much they have grown. They all seemly are following in Mike’s passion for collecting, steam-engines, cars and machinery of all types!…
The visit wouldn’t be complete without spending time with their dog Pixie who absolutely “loves” to be pet and followed us around looking for attention!
Corvette Club of Western PA (CCWP) was well represented this past weekend at the annual Quaker State & Lube Corvette Show with (17) member cars!
Thanks to our friends at Shenango Valley Corvette Club (SVCC) for putting this show on even though the weather was cold and cloudy for most of the day. The participation and great camaraderie between all attendees “warm” up the proceedings for sure!
CCWP grabbed (4) awards including: Best-of-Class and Best-of-Show by Mike “Iron Mike” Greco with is “Head Turner” C7 Z06 and Brad Paolo won Best-of-Class with his one of a kind 1995 C4 Polo Green corvette. The club (CCWP) won a “Participation” award with the 2nd best number of cars with (17)!… Thanks Bob and Sue Marnell for your hard work as board members for the club..

“Our friends at Car and Driver Magazine have rendered the mid-engine C8 Corvette for the May 2018 Issue which features the article “25 Cars Worth Waiting For”. The accompanying article also features a couple more renders which we have below.
The article is written by Daniel Pund who lays out the various engines and equipment that Car and Driver thinks will be available on the forthcoming C8 Corvette. Most of this info has already been speculated and written about, but we’ll share a couple of the nuggets available from the text.
The conventional wisdom is that an upgraded LT1 with 500-hp will be the base motor and its inclusion in the line-up helps to keep costs down. Two optional motors will come afterward, a naturally aspirated 5.5-liter DOHC V8 engine capable of 600-hp and a 8000+ rpm redline will fall into the middle of the lineup while a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 will make around 800 horsepower will serve as the top level engine.
But wait, there’s more!!
Within a couple of years following the introduction, Car and Driver says the C8 will offer hybrid power with the addition of a 200-hp electric motor packaged in the front to turn the front wheels and providing at or near 1,000 horsepower total.
Car and Driver also proclaims the clutch pedal and manual transmission is dead for the C8 and in its place, Chevy is working with Tremec to develop a new eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
Finally, what we thought may be a feature of the C7 ZR1 is the active aerodynamics which includes a rear power-operated spoiler while up front, Chevrolet will utilize a front axle lift system to change the angle of the Corvette and its front aerodynamics based on the car’s speed.
The May 2018 cover and the full article were posted on the Corvette Forum so check it out here. “
